Duropar Technologies Inc.
There are over 250,000 miles of Class I railway track in North America. Duropar's goal is to become a leader in manufacture of high performance "green" railway ties from recycled material. Duropar's patented technology uses 100% recycled materials for which disposal is difficult (such as plastic and asphalt waste) to produce a product that is cost-competitive and beneficial to the environment.
Results from customer testing of its prototype have confirmed that Duropar's "green" railway ties demonstrate both superior performance and highly desirable environmental benefits compared to current alternatives. Duropar's product is 100% recyclable and can replace existing concrete, wood and petroleum-based railway products which are usually environmentally hazardous.
Use of Duropar's railway ties can result in saving millions of precious hardwood trees and in the elimination of 16 tons of oily creosole leaching into the environment.
Duropar has acquired a plant in Brampton, Ontario to test its production concepts. The plant has been renovated and modified and most of the trial equipment has been delivered and installed. In the next few months, Duropar expects to produce 500 railway ties for pre-sales testing and qualification by Canadian Pacific Railway.
